La Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico está aprobada para los estudiantes con beneficios educativos en los distintos programas del “GI Bill®”. Los estudiantes elegibles que deseen matricularse y recibir los beneficios educativos disponibles deberán radicar sus solicitudes a través del portal del “GI Bill®” o el portal de la Administración de Veteranos.
Los veteranos y dependientes de estos matriculados oficialmente en nuestra Institución deberán completar su programa de estudios en el tiempo regular del mismo conforme a la Política de Progreso Académico.
Para solicitar, actualizar o verificar el estatus de su beneficio de estudios de Veteranos (Veterans Affairs (VA)) debe ir al siguiente enlace: How to apply.
La página web le indicará la información y documentos que debe tener a la mano para completar la solicitud de beneficios. El tiempo estimado para que obtenga su Certificado de Elegibilidad es de 30 días a partir del momento en que se reciba su solicitud en la oficina regional indicada.
Certificación de Matrícula:
Para que se le certifique su matrícula a Veterans Affairs (VA) usted debe presentar al oficial certificador el Certificado de Elegibilidad. De no tener el certificado, puede presentar la copia de la solicitud sometida al Depto. de Asuntos de Veteranos. El Certificado de Elegibilidad (COE), por sus siglas en inglés): es una carta emitida por la Administración de Veteranos en la que se establece elegibilidad de un individuo y autorización de beneficios para perseguir un programa educativo. Además, incluye información sobre el porciento de elegibilidad, el tiempo remanente y la fecha de terminación de elegibilidad.
Cambio de Institución o Recinto:
Si usted ya tiene uno de estos beneficios aprobados y lo estuvo utilizando en otra institución o recinto, debe ir a la página web de solicitud del beneficio: How to apply y actualizar el mismo. Elija “Updating my current education benefits” y actualice sus datos personales, cuenta de banco y la información de la nueva institución educativa.
Deberá completar los siguientes formularios:
- Form 22-1995 Request for Change of Program Place of Training- Chapters 30/33/1606
- Form 22-5490 Dependent’s Application for Change of Program or Place of Training- Chapter /35

- Chapter 31– (Vocational Rahabilitation and Employment)- Rehabilitación Vocacional y Empleo. Debe ser evaluado y referido por un consejero de Rehabilitación Vocacional de una oficina regional de servicio al veterano.

Otros Beneficios para Veteranos y Militares
- Ley 203 – Carta de Derechos del Veterano Puertorriqueño: En las instituciones privadas solamente aplica a estudiantes universitarios veteranos que agoten sus beneficios bajo el GI Bill®. Educational Services for Veterans, Military and their Dependents
GI BILL® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Law is approved to receive students with educational benefits in the various GI Bill® programs. Eligible students who wish to enroll and receive the available educational benefits must file their applications through the GI Bill® portal or the Veterans Administration portal.
Veterans and their dependents officially enrolled in our Institution must complete their degree in the allotted time according to the Academic Progress Policy.
To apply for, update or verify the status of your Veterans Affairs (VA) benefit, you must go to the following link: https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/. The website will provide you with the information and documents you need to have on hand to apply for benefits. The estimated time for you to obtain your Certificate of Eligibility is 30 days from the time your application is received at the corresponding regional office.
Certification of Enrollment:
To have your enrollment certified to Veterans Affairs (VA), you must present the certifying official with the Certificate of Eligibility. If you do not have the certificate, you may submit a copy of the application submitted to the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. The Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is a letter issued by the Veterans Administration establishing an individual’s eligibility and benefit authorization to pursue an educational program. It also includes information on the percentage of eligibility, time remaining and eligibility termination date.
Change of Institution or Campus:
If you already have one of these approved benefits and were using it at another institution or campus, you must go to the benefit application webpage https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/ and update it. Choose «Updating my current education benefits» and update your personal information, bank account and the information for the new educational institution.
You will need to complete the following forms:
